Scouts is the time when young people take on even bigger challenges and adventures while building confidence, self-esteem and independence.
We provide a wide range of activities designed to be fun, challenging, and rewarding. Working in patrols, they learn leadership, teamwork, and responsibility while earning badges and awards along the way.
Outdoor adventure is at the heart of the Scouts programme. From camping and hiking to learning survival skills and trying new activities, Scouts are encouraged to push themselves, discover new interests, and develop important skills for life.
Alongside adventure, Scouts also get involved in community projects, competitions, and events with other groups, making new friends and gaining experiences that help them grow into capable and confident young people.

We need help right now! Always willing to hear from anyone who can help our busy leaders on a flexible basis to suit you.
Our Scout Troop consists of small units of Scouts called a Patrol, led by a Patrol Leader. Outdoor activities feature prominently, with the highlight being various camps throughout the year.

‘As a society, we do tend to get bogged down with ‘you can’t do this, you can’t do that’ and I think it’s a shame – kids lose out on so much of the magic of the outdoors. I want kids to learn how to start fires without matches, build camps, climb mountains. Our ancestors had these skills for generations and now we are in danger of losing them.’ Ex Chief Scout, Bear Grylls.
‘We would like to thank the Scouts very much indeed for their help at this year’s Butleigh Church Fete. They understood what they were asked to do and did it with no fuss. They responded promptly to calls to do something and were willing, reliable, polite and efficient. They were a credit to the Barton St David Scouts.’ Butleigh Church Fete Committee. June 2019
